JBus Protocol Description: JBus protocol is very similar to Modbus and JBus is utilized by various SCADA devices in either RTU or ASCII mode. The J-Bus driver supports connections over RS-232 and RS-485 (Half Duplex). The FieldServer can be configured as a client or server using the J-Bus protocol.

JBus came about when the ModBus protocol encountered copyright problems and the ModBus protocol entered the public domain. It has since been used under the name JBus by many manufacturers. The JBus protocol can be identical to ModBus, or very similar with minor changes.

JBus gateways utilizing the FieldServer JBus protocol driver are available using the ProtoCessor, ProtoCessor/ProtoCarrier or ProtoNode gateways.
