LonWorks®, BACnet®, Metasys® N2 Multi-protocol Device Server

ProtoNode is designed to be used by manufacturers needing to quickly and easily enable new or legacy devices to interface with other protocols. As a fully enclosed module, ProtoNode provides ProtoCessor power without the OEM redesing their device. The extensive FieldServer driver library, coupled with FieldServer experience in protocol translation gateways provides the OEM customer with confidence that their products will meet the foreign networks requirements for interoperability.

ProtoNode provides the greatest flexibility and versatility available today. It supports virtual nodes which allows multiple OEM controllers to connect to a single ProtoNode and seen as separate controllers on the various field networks.

ProtoNode includes all the hardware and software to enable the customer's products to interface to various networks and multiple drivers can be installed on a single ProtoNode. Two ProtoNodes are available.

          • ProtoNode RER includes two RS-485 and one Ethernet port and can be programmed in the field or pre-programmed in the factory. The ProtoNode RER is BACnet BTL mark pending (B-ASC)
          • ProtoNode LER includes a LonWorks port in addition to the RS-485 and Ethernet ports.

          ProtoNode's Configuration Auto-Selector is a feature not found on other products. This feature makes it easy for th OEM to select specific protocols and configurations for their applications while stocking and supplying a single component, ProtoNode. With Configuration Auto-Selector the manufacturer can pre-load multiple predefined configurations and multiple protocols and then, using DIP switches or even a register on the OEM unit to select the proper configuration for their customer's specific needs.   1. ProtoNode RAR is particularly designed for cost sensitive high volume applications that support RS-485 to RS-485 conversion (for Modbus RTU, BACnet MSTP or Metasys N2 conversion), and can support 100-150 Modbus RTU registers. The protocol mapping is programmed at the factory and cannot be changed in the field. There are DIP switches provided for setting Node- ID, MAC address and Baud-Rate (Auto-Baud for BACnet MSTP is supported).
  2. ProtoNode BRE includes two serial ports that can be configured as RS-232 or RS-485 plus an Ethernet port.ProtoNode is provided with the necessary protocol drivers. Multiple drivers can be installed on a single ProtoNode. FieldServer can provide custom driver support when needed.
