Rapid Deployment of Field Protocol
The ProtoCarrier solution enable OEMs to rapidly and easily add Buidling and Industrial Automation protocol translation support to new and legacy devices, without the time and expense of redesigning their hardware. Protocol translation is supported between devices and networks using Serial, Ethernet or LonWorks.
FieldServer Technologies pre-programs the ProtoCarrier solution and maps each device to support the various protocols and configurations including BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Metasys N2 by JCI, Modbus TCP, Allen Bradley EtherNet/IP, LonWorks and many others. No software or configuration files are required to install the device in the field. This makes the device plug-and-play.
All configurations are available to the user/installer simply by selecting the proper DIP switches. As an example, a manufacturer might have 5 different devices, each requiring a variety of protocols to meet their customer's interoperability needs. They desire a single source solution, with multiprotocol, multi-configuration capability. A single ProtoCarrier Solution can be provided by FieldServer Technologies that has all pretested configuration choices preloaded. Up to 70 different pretested configurations with multiple protocol choices, selectable by DIP switches, can be stored on a single ProtoCarrier solution. A key benefit for the OEM is minimized stocking costs and simplified training and start-up operations!
FieldServer Technologies ProtoCessor is attached to the ProtoCarrier daughter card and the user has full access to the FieldServer driver library.

ProtoCarrier/ProtoCessor's Configuration Auto-Selector is a feature not found on other products. This feature makes it easy for OEMs to select specific protocols and configurations for their applications while stocking and supplying a single component. With Configuration Auto-Selector the manufacturer can pre-load multiple predefined configurations and multiple protocols and then, using DIP switches or even a register on the OEM unit to select the proper configuration for their customer's specific needs.
